MA search tips
This page provides some tips on how to use the powerful search tool on this site

You can search for articles and information on the MA website using the following:

• word search

• phrase search (enclosed in double quotation marks)

• word and phrase search

• wildcards (e.g. bus*, museums* etc, the * representing any number of unknown characters in the word)

• the advanced search function, which allows you to refine your search by filling in different fields of information about the article you are trying to find.

If your search does not come up with a relevant page it may be that you need to modify either:

a) your key word - for example; 'MA' and 'Museums Association' may yield different search results

b) your phrase - for example; if you are looking for articles with commercial information, you may need to add an AND, which will allow the search to find either or both words in an article, if the phrase itself does not exist.

Other modifiers include:

OR - placed between two words in the search this will find articles with one or the other in them. This is especially useful with words that may be interchangeable or are part of a group, e.g: signs OR signage.

For more information on refining your search even further refer to the SEARCH GUIDE.
